Delighted to see #chsocm at the top of your list. Even more delighted that it caught on so quickly. You and your readers might be interested and amused to know that when I started this back in July 2012, the first iteration of #chsocm ended up generating a LOT of porn SPAM...in Spanish.

I checked with a Spanish-speaking colleague who explained that I'd inadvertently stumbled into some obscene street-speak. Yet more reason to carefully check hashtags before letting them go live! I write about this on the #ChSocM blog. Transcripts of our weekly Twitter-based chats are also posted there.

True, there are several solutions out there, so I just chose the top 3. I am very excited about Ministry Platform and look forward to seeing it gain market share.

David, great analysis of this news story and its possible implications. We sincerely hope that as Active continues to build a world-class platform for church member management and communication, they also continue to build out more ways for outside providers to exchange data. At SiteOrganic, our front-end powers many of the member AND visitor-facing aspects of a church website. It's key that we can offer our customers seamless integration with our suite of features as well as those on other platforms. Keep it open and let ministry thrive!

Truely interesting times in the ChMS world. And by "world" I mean the WHOLE world (all of it, not just the US. Yes, yes, the US too, but really the rest of the world too).

Being based in Australia, at an Aussie church (in Melbourne VIC) I am excited (hopeful?) to see what all these AN aquisitions mean to us as an F1 user. AN recently opened an Australian office (Sydney NSW), and it will be interesting to see if we get any kind of local support (rather than working with a 16hr time difference).

As a non-US church, here's a bit of wish list for the new F1/ActiveWorks|Faith product:
- Local/international hosting (not just The Planet in TX. Our data has to travel a long way)
- Local support & F1 training (AN's Sydney office)
- Cached check-in (taken from Connection Power)
- Facilities booking and management (taken from ServiceU)
- Local transaction processing in Aussie dollars (AUD)
I'm sure if I new all the indepth features of all the product that could come together, I'd be wanting much, MUCH more.

Steve, our church does that very thing. I am not sure I understand the relevance of your post though. The policy is for our church employees and serves as a tool to help them make wise decisions on what they post AS employees of our church....specifically sections 6 & 7. Social media sites are tools and they can be used ineffective or effectively. Not everyone understands these new mediums and our policy is to help them.

The policy isn't just for helping with the ethical and spiritual use of social media, but it is also a legal document governing our employees....an unfortunate necessity even in the church. It's presence is there to help protect the church.

The attached 'policy' applies to more than just social media - which really points out the irrelevance of creating a policy for every type of social interaction. Jesus commanded us to 'go and make disciples of all nations' - why aren't we equipping people to do this as part of their everyday lives?

If I may suggest another resource, SharingChurch.com offers a way for church members to share with others (things, services, skills) as well as post needs. It seems natural that churches should encourage and facilitate sharing (after all, how many pressure washers does one group of people really need?) but in larger groups it is difficult to facilitate. Sharing church addresses that problem.
